Founded in Melbourne
Mason Group Construction was established with a single conviction: that Melbourne deserved a builder who refused to cut corners. The first project — a bespoke custom residence in Niddrie — set the standard for everything that followed.
CASA SOL Completed
The completion of CASA SOL in Niddrie marked a defining moment for the practice — a full custom luxury residence delivered to exacting standards, and a benchmark for the homes that would follow.
DIAMOND Delivered
DIAMOND, our second completed residence, raised the bar further. Every detail — from structural decisions to the finest interior finishes — was executed with the same uncompromising care that defines Mason Group.

The Team
The People Behind the Work
Mason Group is built around a small, permanent team of exceptional people. No subcontracted project managers, no revolving door of site supervisors — the same faces from first sod to final handover.
James Mason
Founder & Managing Director
James founded Mason Group in 2004 after a decade working for some of Melbourne's most respected builders. His hands-on approach — he visits every active site, every week — sets the tone for the entire practice. James holds a Bachelor of Construction Management from RMIT and is a Master Builders Association accredited builder.
Sarah Chen
Director of Design & Client Relations
Sarah joined Mason Group in 2010 and became a director in 2016. She oversees the design coordination process — ensuring that the architect's vision is faithfully translated into the build — and manages the client relationship from initial brief through to handover. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Melbourne.
David Okafor
Head of Construction
David has been building in Melbourne for over fifteen years, joining Mason Group in 2012. He oversees all active construction sites, manages our trade relationships, and is the person ultimately responsible for the quality of every home we deliver. His exacting standards are legendary among our subcontractors — and deeply appreciated by our clients.
Claire Whitmore
Interior Specifications Manager
Claire manages the material and finish specification process for every Mason Group project — from structural selections through to the finest interior details. Her background in interior design and her deep knowledge of the Australian materials market ensures that every specification decision is both beautiful and buildable.
